Day Pass

Dad's been home today since 11:30. He's been asleep most of the time. I made him a TV dinner thing from Catholic Charities for lunch. It was the best I've seen him eat since I've been here. I made some jello for him to have later. He's so mad at himself because he forgot to bring his glasses home with him. We found some old glasses in a drawer. It's not the best but it'll do for the day. He has to go back to rehab around 5 so he can take his meds. Tomorrow he starts another week of radiation. He's not too happy about that. I guess I wouldn't be either. He loves Dot and I think she feels the same way. Every time Dad comes in a room where Dot is she gets up and starts wagging her tail like crazy. It seems to be a good day for Dad.

Dad Update

I sat with Dad for several hours today. He's still tired and weak. The rehab place wants to discharge him. He wants to stay there. I think he's just afraid. I also think it's hard for him to rely on me because he sees me as his baby girl still. I don't know. It's very emotionally stressful.

I have arrived!

I got to Vegas at 5 am this morning. It's super hot! I took Dot outside and the pavement was burning her feet. She looked like she was dancing.

The trip went really well. Dot did great in the car. I had a nice visit with Mom and Zack. I saw Dad this afternoon. He looks so much better than he did in May.

In just a few words I'll sum up each state I went through.
Maryland...born there seen most of it
Pennsylvania...Didn't see too much of it
Ohio...Not much to say about it
Indiana...Same as the above...the speedway was neat though
Illinois...OMG took me forever to get out of that state...stupid GPS
Missouri...Nice
Kansas...Windy...really windy and flat
Colorado...no word I know describes the sites there...majestic is close but not good enough
Utah...Got there as the sun was setting so most of it I couldn't see
Nevada...Hot

Anyway, I need to sleep. I did add more photos to snapfish.

Missouri

Today I'm leaving Missouri. Yesterday I surprised my mom by showing up at her door. My nephew is here for the summer too. He opened the door and his eyes got huge when he saw me. LMAO

We all went to the casino here for lunch yesterday. Then I brought Zack back to the hotel for a few hours so he could go swimming. By the end of the day me and Zack where soooo tired. I took him back to Mom and I came back to the hotel and passed out.

Dot is doing ok. She won't let me leave her site if she can help it. Poor dog.
Anyway, I'm going to go say bye to Mom and Zack then back on the road. Today we will be traveling through Kansas and Colorado...we will stop there for the night then our last stop is Vegas. I may not be back on here until we get to Vegas.

Stupid GPS

Stupid GPS took me about 150 miles out of my way. What a waste of time. I didn't get to the hotel until after 1am! I'm going to bed.

Ohio

I've made it to Ohio! I didn't sleep well last night so I had to make my first stop early. Dot is doing well. She's happy to be out of the car though. I have a few pictures but I'm too tired right now to upload them.

The Adventure Begins...............

Trip (the night before)

Ok so....laundry is done, hair is cut, fridge cleaned out, most things in the apartment are unplugged, the car is packed, notes are on the door so I won't forget anything and Dot is following me everywhere...She thinks I'm going to leave her.

I think I'm ready. I'm a bit nervous. I guess once I get on the road I'll be ok. I know I should be asleep right now but it's just not happening.

Well, I guess I'll try to sleep again.

Locked Out

I had so many plans tonight...I got off work and came home to get Dot. We were going to Wal-Mart and then I was going to clean. I got Dot, her leash and my wallet....walked out closed the door and remembered the keys were inside.....No phone...It was in the car...car is locked

I walked to the laundry mat because I knew they had a pay phone. No change. The 0 didn't work for operator...Started walking to 7-11....Car came down the road so I flagged him down..he let me use his cell....Christine didn't answer....couldn't remember Candi's number....called Susan

Susan comes 45mins drive....didn't have the key but she has a cell phone. Try Christine again...call 411 for Mom's number because she knows Candi's number....Candi's number is unlisted or I could have 411ed her. She asks why do I need my house key at 4am! UHHH cause I locked myself out!

This all started at 2:30 am....it's now 5:18 am.....I need a hide-a-key!! This is the second time since I moved here that I've done this. Susan is asleep on the couch her dog is on the floor beside her....Dot is taking up most of my bed....Was supposed to get a hair cut before work...not going to happen! I need sleep more than a hair cut.

You all can stop laughing anytime! :)

Vegas Baby

I got all my paperwork filled out, turned in and approved. I'm leaving this coming Wednesday July 15th. I have a million things to do between now and then. Anyone want to be my personal (unpaid) assistant?

Finally moving forward

I think my papers are at work waiting for me. I talked to Dad's doctor today and he said he was faxing them. YAY!!

Dot has a vet appointment Monday, I've had the oil changed in the car, battery checked, talked to someone about a new rim and tire and talked to my landlord about rent and such while I'm gone.

Looks like I'll be outta here soon. Just in time too. Dad's doctor told me that they can't do radiation anymore on Dad because it's making him worse. He also told me Dad's blood count is slowly dropping again. So, he'll be needing a transfusion sometime soon.

Still waiting.....but making progress?

I'm getting the key to Dad's house today. I'm also getting my oil changed and my car looked at. I re-faxed my paperwork to the doctor using yet another fax number. I may have to take vacation time to go out there to get the paperwork done and then just fax it back.

I talked to my half sister, Shannon, today. She updated me on what the doctors are saying. When they did the tests Monday on Dad they found a mass. We're still waiting on the biopsy results but basically it's another cancer mass. We're just waiting to see what kind and what options Dad has now.

This all has been very stressful and I haven't even left yet. When I get back from Vegas and all this is over, I am so going to need therapy! :)
